Using The Seven Fs for goal setting will help ensure your best days are ahead.

Using The Seven Fs for goal-setting will help ensure your best days are ahead.

Last night at a dinner party, one of our friends casually made the comment to another: “You should put that into your goals for the new year.” He and I made eyes across the room because just hours earlier, we had discussed our goals for the new year. Together, we agreed to use the framework of The Seven Fs for 2017. Here’s the framework, described in detail to help you:

Faith: How can you increase your satisfaction with your spiritual life? And if you did, what benefits would that bring to you and those around you?

Family: How can you increase your satisfaction with your loved ones, who share a common sense of home? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

The Seven Fs Wheel

Completing The Seven Fs Wheel is a good place to spark your 2017 goal-setting.

Finances: How can you increase your satisfaction with how your money funds your priorities? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

Fitness: How can you increase your satisfaction with the health and strength of your body? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

Friends: How can you increase your satisfaction with the people who share your joys and disappointments? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

Fun: How can you increase your satisfaction with the part of your life that is playful and joyful? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

Future: How can you increase your satisfaction with the hope you have for yourself and others? And if you did, what benefit would that bring to you and those around you?

A good place to start is by completing The Seven Fs Wheel.

Good Leadership Breakfast

My friend Mark Bergman and I set a goal together for 2017: make our Bucket List Book an inspiring tool for both of our businesses.

The focus for my goals in 2017: Faith: I believe it’s possible to live without fear. Finances: living and giving are synonymous to me – the more I live the more I want to give money away to others. Fitness: my goal is to make peace with my belly, while also learning to enjoy building muscle and breaking a sweat.

Good leaders find inner calm and motivation by setting goals. And they consider faith, family, finances, fitness, friends, fun and future as part of their goal-setting framework.

How about you: what are your goals for 2017?
